What Divers Are Saying
Common Questions
Do I need to be PADI certified to take this course?
No — any recognized Open Water certification qualifies, including SDI, NAUI, SSI, and others. If you're not sure whether your cert qualifies, just give us a call.
How many dives are required?
Five open water dives total — Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation are required, plus three specialty dives of your choosing.
Do the specialty dives count toward full specialty certifications?
Yes — each dive in the Advanced Open Water course counts as credit toward the corresponding full PADI specialty certification. If you later complete the remaining requirements for that specialty, you'll earn the full cert.
Where are the dives conducted?
We use local Texas dive sites near Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. We'll coordinate the best location based on your specialty choices and where you're located.
What comes after Advanced Open Water?
PADI Rescue Diver — which requires Advanced Open Water as a prerequisite. After Rescue Diver, the path continues to Divemaster and Instructor if you want to go pro.
