SDI Inactive Diver/Refresher Program
SDI Inactive Diver / Refresher Course
It's been a while since your last dive. No judgment — life happens. The SDI Inactive Diver Refresher course gets you back in the water safely, confidently, and quickly.
Already certified but rusty? This is exactly what you need.
What's In It For You
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in diving activities without direct supervision of an SDI Instructor — so long as the following limits are adhered to:
- The diving activities approximate those of training
- The areas of activity approximate those of training
- Environmental conditions approximate those of training
* Junior divers (ages 10–14) must participate in diving activities with a parent, guardian, or dive professional.

Common Questions
How long has it been — is it too long?
There's no time limit. Whether it's been one year or twenty, the Inactive Diver Refresher course is designed to get you back up to speed safely. We'll meet you where you are.
Do I need to redo my full Open Water certification?
No — this is a refresher, not a full recertification. You'll review the key skills and complete the open water requirements, but you won't need to repeat the entire Open Water course.
Do I need my own gear?
No — all scuba equipment is provided for your pool and open water sessions. You don't need to own anything to get started.
Where does the course take place?
Pool sessions can take place at your private pool, a community pool, or a local aquatic center. Open water dives are completed at a local Texas dive site. We serve Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and across Texas.
Can I do this as a private course?
Absolutely — private refresher training is available. One instructor, one student, completely at your pace. Call us to arrange a private session.
