Common Questions
Is shore diving harder than boat diving?
It's different — not harder. Shore diving requires more planning and site awareness (reading surf, timing entries and exits, navigating back to your exit point) but removes the logistics of boat scheduling and charter costs. This course teaches you exactly what to look for and how to handle it.
Where are the training dives conducted?
We use local Texas shore-access dive sites near Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio — including spring-fed lakes and freshwater sites. We'll coordinate the best location based on your area and current site conditions.
Do I need a dive flag for shore diving?
Yes — proper use of a dive flag is both a legal requirement in many states and a critical safety practice. The course covers dive flag use and float handling in detail.
Can I pair this with Navigation Diver?
Absolutely — shore diving relies heavily on navigation skills (compass and natural) to find your exit point. Taking Navigation Diver alongside or before this course makes both certifications significantly more practical. Ask us about combining them.
Does this count toward SDI Master Diver?
Yes — SDI Shore and Beach Diver counts as a specialty credit toward the SDI Advanced Diver Development Program and SDI Master Diver rating.
