Common Questions
How long does the Open Water course take?
Most students complete the eLearning in a few hours at home, then finish pool and open water sessions over a weekend. Because we train privately, the schedule is built entirely around your availability.
Do I need my own equipment?
Not to get started. We can discuss gear options when you register — many students choose to purchase their own mask, fins, and wetsuit, while larger equipment like tanks and BCDs are provided for training.
Where are open water dives completed?
We use local Texas dive sites including The Scuba Ranch in Terrell and other spring-fed lakes near Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. We'll coordinate the best site based on your location.
Is the SDI certification recognized internationally?
Yes — SDI is one of the world's largest and most respected dive training agencies. Your certification is accepted at dive centers, liveaboards, and resorts worldwide.
What's the difference between SDI and PADI?
Both are internationally recognized agencies with high standards. SDI's training tends to be more flexible and modern — including a fully digital eLearning system and private instruction options. Either certification gets you diving anywhere in the world.
