What you'll learn
Eligibility & Readiness
✓Minimum age 10 years old (Junior Open Water Diver for divers under 15)
✓Swim 200 metres/yards (or 300 metres/yards in mask, fins and snorkel) without stopping
✓Float and tread water for 10 minutes
✓Complete a scuba medical questionnaire; physician approval required if relevant conditions are flagged
✓Be in good physical health
Course Curriculum (3 Phases)
✓Knowledge Development covering dive planning, gear selection, underwater signals and diving procedures (PADI manual, eLearning, or video, with chapter quizzes and final exam)
✓5 Confined Water Dives in a pool-like setting to learn equipment setup, mask clearing, buoyancy control, underwater navigation basics and safety procedures
✓4 Open Water Dives at local dive sites to review and apply confined water skills
✓Typical completion timeframe of 3-5 days for new divers
