What you'll learn

Knowledge Development

✓Types of boats and their features: live-aboard, charter boat, and private boat
✓Safety features including life preservers, lifeboats, flares, radio, throw rings, Coast Guard requirements, first aid and oxygen kits
✓Exiting and boarding the boat, including ladder types and entry techniques
✓Planning boat trips: boat type, location, dive difficulty, air availability, provisions, and weather
✓Boat procedures for loading, captain briefings, special rules, and crowded area management
✓Lines (anchor, descent, tag, stern safety lines, decompression bars) and underwater navigation from a boat

Practical Training

✓Plan a boat dive and determine necessary equipment via checklist (C-card, log book, cylinders, spare parts, cameras)
✓Participate in dock briefing and captain's brief
✓Execute proper entry and exit procedures from the boat
✓Complete open water dive requirements and log each dive
✓Attempt to use a different type of boat, or at minimum a different entry point, across dives
✓Maintain equipment care throughout the course
