What you'll learn

Knowledge Development

✓Equipment needed for deep diving

✓Emergency procedures for deep diving and first aid

Practical Training

✓Open Water Dive 1: test and check all equipment (depth gauges, bottom timers/watches, computers), get familiar with the area, descend to planned depth without exceeding pre-planned limits, dive at a depth limited to 30 metres/100 feet, and ascend to a safety stop
✓Open Water Dive 2: monitor depth, time, and air consumption and log all times on a slate, descend to planned depth without exceeding limits, execute a simulated emergency assigned underwater by the instructor, dive at a depth limited to 40 metres/130 feet, and ascend to a safety stop

Frequently asked questions

Two open water dives are required. Dive 1 goes to a maximum of 30m/100ft and Dive 2 goes to the full 40m/130ft limit. Both include specific skills and an emergency scenario assigned by your instructor.
