What you'll learn

Knowledge Development

✓Why dive at night: different aquatic life and experience in limited visibility
✓Special equipment: diving lights, importance of a backup light, comparison of light styles, and personal dive beacons
✓Buddy system: buddy contact and communications
✓Navigation: bottom contour, compass, boat, beach/lake, and marker light/strobe
✓Disorientation: with buddy, lost buddy, and light failure
✓Buoyancy considerations and emergency procedures: disabled diver, lost diver, and diving maladies
✓Underwater environment and nocturnal life

Practical Training

✓Planning the dive and reviewing safety procedures
✓Entering, descending, and remaining submerged at least 20 minutes
✓Changing direction several times while maintaining proper navigation
✓A two-minute swim without a compass, then surfacing and reorienting
✓Descending and navigating using an underwater light, SPG, compass, depth gauge, and computer
✓Maintaining buddy contact throughout the dive and logging the dive
