What you'll learn

Knowledge Development

✓The aquatic environment: causes and effects of tides, currents, waves, and surge
✓Equipment for drift diving: floats, lines, reels, and compass
✓Buddy organization and problem/hazard recognition
✓Buoyancy control and underwater navigation while drifting
✓Communications and safety stop procedures
✓Entry and exit techniques for drift conditions

Practical Training

✓Plan a drift dive including briefing and captain's brief
✓Complete two open water dives to a maximum depth of 18 metres / 60 feet
✓Follow the instructor's demonstration of proper use of float, lines, and reels on the first dive
✓Execute the learned skills independently on the second dive
✓Use a different type of drift or a different entry point across the dives
✓Properly log dives and care for equipment afterward
