What you'll learn

Knowledge Development

✓Purpose of full face masks: diver safety and communications
✓Advantages (increased safety, communications, use of corrective lenses) and disadvantages (increased air consumption, buoyancy effects, bulkiness)
✓Types of full face masks: appropriate/inappropriate use, scuba quick connect/disconnect, and surface-supplied systems
✓Techniques and procedures for donning and diving with a full face mask
✓Underwater communications equipment types
✓User/field maintenance, authorized servicing, preventive maintenance, and after-use care

Practical Training

✓Dive plan and equipment setup, including proper donning and adjustment
✓Switch from open to closed circuit on the surface
✓Demonstrate proper weighting, buoyancy control, equalization, and mask clearing
✓Remove and replace the full face mask underwater
✓Recover from a free-flowing full face mask and switch to a backup mask
✓Use an alternate air source and complete a controlled ascent, exit, and dive log
