Hydrostatic Test — Scuba Cylinder

A hydrostatic test is the five-year pressure test every scuba cylinder needs to stay legal to fill. We pressurise the tank in a water jacket, measure how much it expands and whether it returns to size, and stamp the date on the neck when it passes. A tank without a current hydro stamp cannot be filled anywhere, so it is worth checking the date before dive season rather than on the morning of a trip.
